Notable Economist Lawrence A. Hunter
Joins Gold Standard 2012 Project

Washington, DC (July 10, 2011) -- Lawrence Hunter, Ph.D., an economist and president of the Social Security Institute, has joined the Advisory Board of Gold Standard 2012, the monetary reform initiative of American Principles in Action (APIA). Dr. Hunter previously served as vice president and chief economist of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Empower America and FreedomWorks. He also served in several high-level economic policymaking roles in the White House and Congress, including staff director of the Joint Economic Committee, and was the longtime chief economic adviser to Jack Kemp. He writes weekly for Forbes and often for other publications, appears frequently on television and radio, and has a doctorate in public-choice economics from the University of Minnesota.

Accepting the invitation to join the Advisory Board, Hunter praised the effort and said, “The 40-year experiment with a fiat global monetary system unanchored to gold has failed. The fiat dollar’s days as reserve currency of the world are limited, and we can either re-anchor the dollar to gold and lead the world toward monetary stability and prosperity or we can struggle and flail about in vain trying to paper over the problem as the dollar collapses and our standard of living deteriorates. I accepted APIA’s invitation to join the Advisory Board of Gold Standard 2012 because I welcome the opportunity to work with a panel of such wise people of clear vision to make the dollar as good as gold once again. I do not intend to stand by idly and watch the United States slip inevitably into monetary chaos.”

The email campaign has generated more than 25,000 letters and emails to Capitol Hill so far. Tea Party Support President Matthew Perdue said, “Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is attempting to shove “Health Care Reform” down the country’s throat. He is trying to “fast track” this 2,074 page government takeover of our health care system.” SSI President Lawrence A. Hunter said, “The campaign continues today, and we won’t stop until Republicans get the message: ‘Don’t Put Christmas Vacation Ahead of Your Country.’”

SSI President Lawrence Hunter Joins “Hands-Of-My-Healthcare Express”
Five-Day Bus Tour Across Montana, Wyoming and Iowa

For Immediate Release
Monday, August 17, 2009

Warrenton, Virginia (August 16, 2009)—Today, the Social Security Institute (SSI) joined with Patients First to carry an urgent message to three critical states: ObamaCare as originally conceived is dead, and the real danger now is ObamaCare Lite, which the Administration is trying to smuggle into law disguised as a “bipartisan compromise.” The purpose of the tour is to convince critical Republican Senators in these states that the time has come to abandon unrealistic and potentially dangerous efforts to negotiate a bipartisan compromise. Instead, the Congress should put consideration of major healthcare reform on hold for at least a year until the economy improves and the supercharged political environment settles down.

Washington DC, June 25, 2009

Patient Opt Out Today, The Social Security Institute (SSI) announces the launch of the National ObamaCare Opt Out (NOOO!) Registry a patient-centered movement designed to allow individuals to demand that Congress not force them to join a national healthcare system, nor to purchase healthcare coverage against their will. This online platform, located at http://www.patientoptout.com, is modeled after the National Do Not Call Registry, and will allow individuals to sign up on the National ObamaCare Opt Out (NOOO!) Registry.

SSI president Lawrence A. Hunter said, “We have created this Web 2.0 platform to allow people across the country to express their disapproval of President Obama’s decision to embrace an individual mandate that would prevent anyone from opting out of mandatory health coverage under his national healthcare system. This decision is a complete reversal from what he said during the campaign in criticizing Hillary Clinton’s healthcare reform proposal. It is now crystal clear that 'ObamaCare' has morphed into 'HillaryCare' version 2.0, complete with huge deficits, rationing treatment and coercive mandates."
