President Obama's Approval Rating Sinks

President Obama’s approval ratings have taken a further downward swing, among likely voters, not among “adults” that the national media uses to inflate the polling results in President Obama’s favor.

Here is the approval rating graph.

What is also interesting is that 54% of Americans — among likely voters — believe it would be better if Congress did nothing at all on health reform.

It bears repeating, a majority of Americans want Congress to do nothing on health reform this year.

Here are some of the demographic details, about how age, income and political affiliation of those polled, and how these factors impacted their views:

This does not mean that most voters are opposed to health care reform. Butit does highlight the level of concern about the specific proposals that Congressional Democrats have approved in a series of Committees. To this point, there has been no Republican support for the legislative effort although the Senate Finance Committee is still attempting to seek a bi-partisan solution.

Not surprisingly, there is a huge partisan divide on this issue. Sixty percent (60%) of Democrats say passing the legislation in Congress would be the best course of action. However, 80% of Republicans take the opposite view.Among those not affiliated with either major party, 23% would like the Congressional reform to pass while 66% would rather the legislators take no action.

Voters who earn less than $20,000 a year are evenly divided but a majority of all other voters would prefer no action. Middle income voters, those who earn from $40,000 to $75,000 a year, are most strongly in favor of taking no action.

Independents and middle class voters all want no action by the Democrats on health care this year.

This fact is likely directly tied to the nose dive in President Obama’s approval rating, since he keeps talking and talking and talking about Obamacare, Obamacare, Obamacare.

This also may explain why James Carville and Howard Dean are recommending not doing health care this year, or alternatively, blaming the Republicans for it dying an ugly death in the Senate.
