Once Obama’s Home Invasion Force is in place, the only remaining “right to privacy” in America will be the right to abort an unborn child
Americans have come to know Britain’s National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) as the UK’s healthcare rationing board. The horror stories coming out of NICE have been used to illustrate to Americans how under the guise of “comparative effectiveness research,” government-run healthcare bureaucracies ration medical treatment, procedures, medications and devices in order to hold down the cost of state-run medicine.
Now, we get a glimpse of how such a powerful board of health bureaucrats mutates to expand its iron grip beyond healthcare per se to encompass all welfare and safety considerations. The London Times reports how NICE’s “health and safety inspectors are to be given unprecedented access to family homes to ensure that parents are protecting their children from household accidents.”
According to the Times, “Nice also recommends the creation of a new government database to allow GPs, midwives and other officials who visit homes to log health and safety concerns they spot.”
Can’t happen here? Oh, but it can, and it certainly will if ObamaCare is enacted into law. Indeed, the precursor of the Nice Nanny already has been clandestinely slipped into the bill (Title IX, Sec. 440 of H.R. 3962) that just passed the U.S. House of Representatives. Although it this parent trap is being baited with voluntary funds handed out to state governments, there is no doubt that this “cash for kids” program, like all of the “voluntary” federal grant programs before it, will lure state governments like catnip into creating mandatory State Nannies to supervise parents and become their “co-partner” in parenting. Once this home invasion force is in place, the only remaining “right to privacy” in America will be the right to terminate the life of an unborn child.
